Planning Your Shower Door

This is the most important stage of your new bathroom. If planed properly it can serve you well, making your everyday showering pleasant and convenient, and save you a lot of money on shower enclosure.

With stall shower you are more flexible with any shapes and sizes. It can be big and large, it can have a half-wall on sides, it can have a seat in it… anything. The fantasy of the designer is the limit here. Anything that can be drawn can be build. If not one way, than another. The downside of this kind of the shower is a price. Building of a custom shower starts with building the curb and walls and that alone can eat up all your budget and on top of that building a custom shower enclosure will make another huge hole in your pocket.

I have seen many times that by the time the shower curb is ready, people would run out of money and use shower curtain instead of shower door. At least for a while. Until that “money printing machine” fills that gap again! 🙂

So, plan it properly. Make up your mind and decide what our objective is, what is your given space and what is your budget. If it is the secondary bathroom, let’s say in kids bedroom, or a guest bath, then maybe just maybe a tub enclosure with a bi-pass shower is your best solution. Don’t forget that in situation with a limited space bi-pass enclosure will be an ideal solution since it does not require a space for door swing.

It happens all the time – after a shower door is installed homeowners realized that toilet is on the way of door and its not opening more than half way. And nobody wants that nor the shower door company or homeowner. So plan ahead.  And if the space and budget are not a question, and that is the master bathroom your are remodeling then of course the stall shower is the case.

You can make it to our personal preferences. Larger or smaller and with seat in it. It can be a steam unit or with water jets… as I said before – fantasy is the limit. And just one last thing – if you are flipping the house or preparing it for  market keep in mind that presence of separate  stall shower and tub in the master bath will only increase the price of the house.

The point that i am to make it that planning ahead is very important. It will help you to visualize your wishes and save you money. And it saves you a lot of aggravations.  There is nothing worse than to renovate a bathroom and find out at the eng that something is not right and needs to be remade.

So, plan ahead
